Flying B Newsletter, Issue #001 -- teaser here
April 19, 2015
Spring has come to the Flying B Ranch and with it renewed enthusiasm as we were awarded the 2014 Orvis Wingshooting Lodge of the year last Friday night at the Orvis Guide Rendezvous held in Missoula, Montana. Joseph Peterson, ranch Manager, and Rich Coe, Wingshooting & Fishing Coordinator-Fishing & Hunting Guide, were there to receive the award. For more than 20 years, the Orvis Company has been recognizing excellence in sporting experiences through its Endorsed Lodges, Outfitters, and Guides Program. The Flying B received this award back in 2003 also. It also has a dual endorsement that includes Fly Fishing Lodge of the Year. We are very proud of our staff in their desire to provide excellent customer service and hospitality. We also want to thank our customers, old and new, that chose to make their hunting & fishing destination the Flying B Ranch. You are very special to us and we look forward to your next visit to Lawyers Creek Canyon.
Welcome to our new e-blast format. Through this media avenue, we hope to keep you current, on a monthly basis as to the happenings, special offers, season dates and outdoor stories we encounter here at the ranch. Thank you for taking the time to stop and catch up with us.

Fueling a Lifetime of Enjoyment and Respect for Hunting: 2014 Recruitment and Retention Youth Hunt It is always a pleasure to have groups bring youth out for special hunts when the opportunity presents itself. In February, we were proud to host a Recruitment and Retention Youth Hunt for Hunter Education graduates, their parents and youth on Idaho Youth Hunting Passports - those who have yet to complete Hunter Education. Two conservation officers organized and instructed the hunt and reported spending an “awesome” day at the Flying B. “It was an interesting experiment to work with students whom have little or no experience, then put them into a hunting situation on their first day afield.” commented George Fisher, District Conservation Officer. Before the hunt, Officer Fisher and Conservation Officer Roy Kinner taught a safety class for new students and a refresher class for graduates. Then the group shot sporting clays and learned upland hunting basics. These young hunters and their dogs found plenty of game to chase around. “Yes, there is a reason it’s called hunting and not getting! Your donation...was the icing on the cake to an already great day afield. We bagged a limit of memories and even a few birds!” Donating special youth hunts such as this, allows us to show our commitment to the community by supporting youth programs. We join Conservation Officers Fisher and Kinner in their hopes that the excitement these young people experienced at the Flying B Ranch will see the passport hunters become Hunter Education graduates and fuel a lifetime of enjoyment and respect for both hunting and the great outdoors.

The Flying B Ranch is the Place to be this Summer: Trips to Consider Wingshooting season draws to a close on April 15th, but there is still lots going on at the Flying B during the late spring and summer. Bring your family or join friends for an outdoor recreational getaway. There is something for everyone to enjoy with plenty of activities in which to participate.
Spend time out on the river whitewater rafting or jet boating. Our one-day whitewater rafting trip covers about 22 miles and 40 class III-IV+ rapids. Hells Canyon is the premier whitewater destinations for jet boating in North America. The rivers are wild; the scenery, history and wildlife unforgettable. For something a little more relaxing, we suggest a float trip which makes for a remarkable river adventure especially during warm Idaho summers when frequent dips in the river are encouraged.
Besides time out on the water, we offer… Horseback riding: saddle up and tour the remote wilderness of Lawyer’s Canyon which boasts of breathtaking views and easy trails. Sporting clays: test your shooting skills at our 10-station course designed by Jon Kruger, a World Sporting Clays Champion. Historic jeep tours: discover Idaho’s natural history while touring the unrivaled scenic views of the inland northwest in an open-air jeep. Pond fishing: enjoy fishing for rainbow trout at our pond located a stone’s throw away from the lodge.
We also offer classes for beginners and the experienced alike on… Dutch-oven cooking Fly-fishing Shooting
No matter which adventure you engage in, we promise to make it memorable.
